At the Northeast EPIC Stakeholders meeting this month, Kim Washington announced that 12 new houses will be built on the lot at Gillingham and Tackawanna streets. The city has issued and RFP for the construction. These will be affordable houses that will fit into the neighborhood. This is only two blocks from the Globe Dye Works.

A Torresdale man has been charged with the death of his 82-year-old father. Thomas Hauck of the 3400-block of Kirkwood Road is accused of starving his father in the basement of his home late last year [NBC10].
A 26-year-old man was shot late yesterday afternoon by police in Frankford near Foulkrod and Tackawanna streets. Authorities say the man was wounded after he refused to drop a gun he had pointed at officers [Action News].
Police are searching for a home invasion suspect who entered an apartment building early Thursday on the 8000-block of Ditman Street in Holmesburg. The suspect was reportedly armed with a knife when stole a credit card and fled [CBS3].

There’s some argument over Frankford’s northern border. Some say it’s Cheltenham Avenue; others say Bridge Street. Regardless, the shootings that played out this past spring on the 2000-block of Bridge Street were in Frankford.

UPDATE (Sept. 7, 9:36 a.m.) — Police have identified the victim as 18-year-old Nasiyis Malik Ingram of the 4800-block of Tackawanna Street.
An 18-year-old died early Sunday morning following a shooting overnight in Frankford.
The shooting started on the 1900-block of Harrison Street where victim reportedly tried to run from the gunman, but was shot multiple times before collapsing on the 4800-block of Tackawanna Street around 1:30 a.m. continue reading »

An office was injured in an early morning confrontation in Frankford.
Police were called to the 4700-block of Tackawanna Street around 2 a.m. after receiving a call about a man with a gun. An officer was assaulted and sustained a laceration on his head when it hit the curb. He was taken to Aria Health-Torresdale. Two suspects, both juveniles, face charges for aggravated and simple assault and conspiracy.
