We knew Hurricane Irene would have an impact on the Northeast, only now are we started to get a better sense of what that impact was.
Above, photographer Joe Kaczmarek takes a shot of Northeast resident Hugh Owens, who just had his truck crushed at Solly and Castor. Find all of his work here, including a flooded Roosevelt Boulevard during Saturday night.
Sadly, though Owens was uninjured, as we reported this morning, a few people weren’t as lucky.

Philadelphia has an official hurricane warning ahead of Hurricane Irene, and residents throughout the region are scrambling to get prepared.
But one of the biggest questions is how vulnerable are you in the Northeast? Fortunately, there is some help.
First, a group of local web developers created Disaster Mapper, which allows users to type in a Philadelphia address and find all nearby threats, like hazardous materials and, yes, flood plain information. Give it a try.

All Philadelphia schools will be closed today due to the impending snow storm. Snowfall began falling, and is expected to continue through Friday morning.
Regional and administrative offices for the School District of Philadelphia will be open today, but will close early at noon. All sports and extracurricular activities are canceled for the day. continue reading »

Parents, get ready for a long weekend with the kids.
The School District of Philadelphia and Archdiocese of Philadelphia have announced that all city schools will be closed tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 12 due to the lasting snow from Wednesday’s blizzard. All administrative and regional offices will open at regular hours.

Due to the persistent snow, all City offices will be closed again today. Those employees not required to assist with snow removal are once again encouraged to stay home, and will be granted excused time.

As of 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, the following weather announcements have been made:
-Tonight’s Holmesburg Civic Association meeting is canceled.
-All public and parochial schools will be closed Wednesday, Feb. 10. KYW has school closings by code.
-All city employees not required to help with snow removal are encouraged to stay home from work tomorrow, and all city offices will be closed to the public.
-Tomorrow’s meeting of the Parkwood Civic Association is canceled.
-Phone calls to the Somerton Civic Association have not been returned, but we’re assuming tonight’s meeting canceled, as well.

6ABC says the weather tomorrow will be as temperate as 70, with the high at 74.
CBS3′s forecast, like Weather.com‘s, says 90 or more. Who’s right? I guess we’ll find out tomorrow.
